US President Donald Trump confirmed that his country is prepared to lower threatened tariffs on European goods if the European Union opens its market more widely to American companies.
He added during an event focusing on artificial intelligence, “If they agree to open the EU to American companies, we will allow them to pay lower tariffs,” referring to the ongoing negotiations with the European Union. He confirmed that serious talks are currently underway.
The United States has been negotiating with the European Union for weeks on a trade agreement aimed at avoiding the imposition of 30% US tariffs on imports from the bloc, which are scheduled to take effect on August 1.
