Microsoft Warns Companies and Government Agencies of a Cyber Attack

Microsoft has issued a security alert regarding an active cyberattack on SharePoint server software, used within government and corporate organizations for document sharing, urging customers to apply urgent security updates to avoid the risk of hacking.

The company explained in a statement that the discovered vulnerabilities are limited to on-premises SharePoint servers within organizations and do not include SharePoint Online, part of the Microsoft 365 cloud platform, which was not affected by the attacks.

The company indicated that the vulnerability allows authorized attackers to perform network impersonation, meaning the perpetrator can pretend to be a trusted entity to gain access to protected systems or information, opening the way for fraudulent or destructive activities, including data manipulation or disruption of digital infrastructure.
