Industrial production in Germany unexpectedly rebounded in May, with manufacturing output rising 1.2% month-on-month.
Data from the German Federal Statistical Office today showed that industrial production also unexpectedly rose year-on-year by 1%.
Production in the energy sector also rose by 10.8%, the pharmaceutical industry by 10%, and the automotive industry by 4.9% month-on-month. Conversely, production in the construction sector declined.
The German Ministry of Economics announced that industrial production continues its marked upward trend since the beginning of the year, after suffering a temporary decline in April due to the US tariff announcements, noting, however, that subsequent developments are characterized by high uncertainty.
