The final vote on the bill in the House of Representatives was 218 to 214, with Republicans Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania voting against it, along with all the Democrats in the chamber.

The legislation, which Trump has called “one big, beautiful bill,” includes trillions of dollars in tax cuts and increased spending on immigration enforcement, along with significant cuts to Medicaid and other health care programs. Republicans expressed confidence in the bill’s passage, despite opposition from a handful of holdout Republicans in previous rounds of voting, who warned that the package would exacerbate the U.S. budget deficit. Five of these Republicans initially voted no in a key procedural vote Wednesday evening, paving the way for its final passage. Their opposition caused hours of delays, but four of them changed their minds overnight.
