MEED magazine revealed that Aramco has invited companies to submit bids for a project management consultancy role and to oversee engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) work for the first phase of the accelerated carbon capture project in Jubail.
According to previous reports in the Maaal newspaper, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Minister of Energy, announced during the Saudi Green Initiative Forum in November 2022 the signing of a joint development agreement to establish a center in Jubail Industrial City with a capacity to capture and store 9 million tons of carbon dioxide annually during the first phase.
According to the report, the planned project will support the Kingdom’s goal of capturing, utilizing, and storing 44 million metric tons of carbon dioxide by 2035. It is part of the Kingdom’s local and international efforts to promote and support global efforts towards carbon neutrality.
