European stocks rise 1%, boosted by defense sector

European stocks rose on Tuesday, boosted by defense sector shares.

Britain’s FTSE 100 index rose about 1% as investors returned to active trading after Monday’s holiday.

In France, the CAC 40 index fell slightly by 0.15% in early trading, while Germany’s DAX 40 index continued its rise, approaching all-time highs.

The European defense sector index saw a 1% gain during the trading session.
