Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, announced that the Saudi Arabian Oil Company, Saudi Aramco, has discovered, by the grace of God, (14) new discoveries of Arabian oil and natural gas fields and reservoirs in the Eastern Province and the Empty Quarter. These discoveries include six fields and two reservoirs of Arabian oil, and two fields and four reservoirs of natural gas.
On this occasion, the Minister of Energy extended his congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, on the achievements made, asking God Almighty for continued security, safety, and prosperity for the Kingdom and its people. He explained that the (Al-Jabu) oil field was discovered in the Eastern Region after very light Arabian oil flowed from the (Al-Jabu-1) well at a rate of (800) barrels per day. The (Sayahid) oil field was also discovered after very light Arabian oil flowed in the (Sayahid-2) well at a rate of (630) barrels per day. In addition, the (Aifan) oil field was discovered after very light Arabian oil flowed in the (Aifan-2) well at a rate of (2840) barrels per day, accompanied by about (0.44) million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day. The (Al-Jubailah) oil reservoir was discovered in the (Al-Bari) field after light Arabian oil flowed in the (Al-Bari-907) well at a rate of (520) barrels per day, accompanied by about (0.2) million standard cubic feet of natural gas. The (Unaizah-A) reservoir was also discovered in the (Mazalej) field, after excellent light Arabian oil flowed in The Mazalij-64 well is producing (1,011) barrels per day, accompanied by approximately (0.92) million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
In the Empty Quarter, the Nuwayr oil field was discovered after medium Arabian oil flowed from the Nuwayr-1 well at a rate of (1,800) barrels per day, accompanied by approximately (0.55) million standard cubic feet of natural gas. The Ad-Damda oil field was also discovered after medium Arabian oil flowed from the Ad-Damda-1 well into the Mishrif-C reservoir at a rate of (200) barrels per day. Very light Arabian oil also flowed from the Mishrif-D reservoir in the same well at a rate of (115) barrels per day. The Qarqas oil field was also discovered after medium Arabian oil flowed from the Qarqas-1 well at a rate of (210) barrels per day. Regarding natural gas, His Highness the Minister of Energy pointed out that the (Ghazlan) field was discovered in the Eastern Province after natural gas flowed from the (Ghazlan-1) well in the (Unaizah B/C) reservoir at a rate of (32) million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day, accompanied by about (2,525) barrels of condensates, in addition to the discovery of the (Aram) field after natural gas flowed from the (Aram-1) well in the (Unaizah B/C) reservoir at a rate of (24) million standard cubic feet per day, accompanied by about (3,000) barrels of condensates. The (Qasiba) reservoir was also discovered in the (Al-Mahwaz) field in the Eastern Province after unconventional natural gas flowed in the (Al-Mahwaz-193101) well at a rate of (3.5) million standard cubic feet per day, accompanied by about (485) barrels of condensates. In the Empty Quarter, the (Arab-C) reservoir was discovered in the (Marzouq) field after natural gas flowed into the (Marzouq-8) well at a rate of (9.5) million standard cubic feet per day. The (Arab-D) reservoir was also discovered in the same well after natural gas flowed into it at a rate of (10) million standard cubic feet per day, in addition to the discovery of the (Upper Jubailah) reservoir in the same well after natural gas flowed into it at a rate of (1.5) million standard cubic feet per day. In conclusion, the Minister of Energy noted that these discoveries represent a qualitative addition that consolidates the Kingdom’s leading position in the global energy sector. They confirm its possession of rich hydrocarbon resources, which opens new horizons for economic development and supports the Kingdom’s ability to meet local and global energy demand efficiently and sustainably for decades to come. These discoveries will also contribute – God willing – to ensuring the sustainability and prosperity of economic growth, in line with Vision 2030 and the Kingdom’s ambitious goals to maximize the use of its natural resources and enhance global energy security.
