EU proposes 25% tariffs on US goods

The European Union has proposed 25% tariffs on a range of US goods in retaliation for President Trump’s steel and aluminum tariffs.

EU member states aim to approve the plan later this week, with it set to take effect on April 15, but most of the tariffs won’t be collected until mid-May.

The EU said today that a plan to retaliate against the US tariffs will be ready next week, according to Bloomberg.

The EU announced yesterday that it will begin imposing counter-tariffs on some US imports next week, while officials said they are ready to negotiate with the Trump administration an agreement to completely eliminate tariffs on industrial goods.
