Princess Haifa Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, said on Monday that 14 million domestic and international tourists attended sports events in the Kingdom in 2024, generating nearly 22 billion Saudi riyals ($5.87 billion) in spending.
She made the remarks during an interactive session at the Sports Investment Forum, which is being held in Riyadh from April 7 to 9 under the theme “Ambitious Sports Investment.”
The forum brings together local and international experts, investors, and leaders in the sports sector. It aims to become the largest global platform for investment in sports, reflecting the Kingdom’s broader push to boost its sports industry and attract private capital as part of its Vision 2030 economic diversification strategy.
The event will showcase emerging technologies in fitness and sports, as well as stadium development tools, to drive investment in modern sports infrastructure. Organisers say the forum seeks to position Saudi Arabia as a global hub for sports and a premier destination for athletes and international tournaments.
Participants will explore investment opportunities and discuss key challenges facing the sector, with a focus on sustainability. Sessions will include representatives from both the public and private sectors and senior officials from international sports federations.
