The euro hit its highest level in more than five months against the US dollar on Tuesday, as the German parliament awaited a vote on a significant increase in borrowing aimed at boosting growth in the eurozone’s largest economy and the wider region.
The euro rose 0.25% to $1.0945, after reaching $1.0954, its highest level since October 10.
Conversely, the US dollar hit a two-week high against the Japanese yen, as investors awaited the outcome of monetary policy meetings scheduled for Wednesday by the Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan.
