Data released today showed that German exports fell by 0.1% year-on-year in January.
According to data released by the German Federal Statistical Office, German exports in January amounted to 129.2 billion euros, down 2.5% compared to December 2024, and 0.1% year-on-year.. While the total value of German exports last year amounted to 1556 billion euros, down 1.2% compared to 2023.
Klaus Wohlrabe, head of surveys at the institute, said: “The export-dependent economy lacks dynamism and optimism. Domestic companies are still waiting for increased demand from abroad.”
At the same time, the value of imports to Germany rose to 113.1 billion euros in January, according to preliminary figures released by the office, representing an increase of 1.2% on a monthly basis and 8.7% on an annual basis.
