Digital transformation has become the main focus of China’s e-commerce industry, according to a recent National E-commerce Conference held in Beijing.

The conference confirmed that this transformation will be one of the most prominent features of the industry in 2025, as it will contribute significantly to boosting economic growth, Xinhua News Agency reported.

As part of this development, there is increasing focus on the sustainable development of e-commerce, whether consumer or industrial, along with the “Silk Road E-commerce” project.

China’s e-commerce has seen remarkable growth in recent years, with online retail sales rising 7.2 percent year-on-year in 2024, cementing China’s position as the world’s largest online retail market for the 12th consecutive year.

This growth has contributed to boosting consumption and improving citizens’ living standards. The year 2025 is expected to witness further expansion in the integration of the Internet and the real world, with a focus on building a healthy business environment, expanding digital consumption, and supporting industrial transformation.

E-commerce will also see the strengthening of domestic and international relations, the expansion of institutional opening-up, and the construction of a strong supply chain. At the same time, the digital transformation of the commercial sector will continue to be accelerated, and the quality and efficiency of digital performance will be improved, which will contribute to strengthening digital governance and promoting the sustainable development of China’s trade.
