Secretly … Elon Musk Builds a Huge Data Center in Atlanta

A recent report by the American Business Insider website revealed that the artificial intelligence company “XAI” owned by American billionaire Elon Musk has quietly built a data center in Atlanta, and has worked to expand its scope beyond its huge data center in Memphis.

The company plans to operate the large data center with the X platform. The two companies are working to integrate hardware for a total of nearly 12,000 Nvidia-designed graphics processing units, which are the chips used in most AI computing operations, according to Business Insider’s statistics on the equipment included in the companies’ agreement with Develop Fulton, an economic development agency in Atlanta.

In December, X and “XAI” signed similar agreements with the agency. Under that, Develop Fulton organized a municipal bond issue to finance $700 million in chips, cables, and other equipment that will go into the single facility. Fortune magazine initially reported that the Atlanta data center would be built on the basis of this project. The size and scope of the data center have not been specified. The Atlanta data center has significant computing power, said a data center solutions engineer and AI expert who asked not to be identified. It’s comparable to a data center that a large company like Google or Amazon might build. XAI is an American artificial intelligence startup founded by Elon Musk in March 2023, with the stated goal of “understanding the true nature of the universe.”
