Under the patronage of Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, and in the presence of Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Governor of Al-Ahsa, Saudi Aramco participated today in the Al-Ahsa Investment Forum, organized by the Al-Ahsa Chamber, in its seventh session, which will last for two days, with the participation of a number of ministers, officials, experts, consultants, and an elite group of company presidents, local and international executive directors, and businessmen and women.
Saudi Aramco, the strategic partner of the forum, whose activities will continue during the period from February 19-20, aims to highlight investment opportunities in the public and private sectors, as the forum is a platform to promote investment in Al-Ahsa, and highlight the company’s role in supporting investment opportunities in the energy sector, and economic development in the Kingdom in general, and Al-Ahsa Governorate in particular.
In his speech at the forum, Eng. Amin H. Nasser, President and CEO of Saudi Aramco, stressed that Al-Ahsa, with its rich history, good land and virtuous people, is an integral part of Aramco’s history, and Aramco, in turn, is part of Al-Ahsa’s history. For decades, Al-Ahsa has included a number of the company’s most important and largest business areas, noting that Saudi Aramco has expanded in recent years to launch giant projects and qualitative initiatives that enhance investment opportunities and generate job opportunities in Al-Ahsa, and contribute to increasing the local product and stimulating the economic cycle, as it contains the Jafurah field, which is considered the jewel in the crown among shale gas fields and is the largest shale gas field being developed in the Middle East. Nasser said: “The total investments in the Jafurah project amount to more than $100 billion over the next fifteen years. It is expected to contribute about $23 billion annually to the Kingdom’s GDP. It is a very important project for the Kingdom in the context of Vision 2030, and also for Saudi Aramco, to achieve our goal of increasing gas capacity by more than 60% by 2030.
We expect that the production capacity of Jafurah will reach about 2 billion standard cubic feet per day of sales gas by 2030, and it will enhance the Kingdom’s position as one of the most important gas producers in the world,” praising the support the company received from Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Minister of Energy, and colleagues in the ministry, as well as the great support from His Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef, and Prince Saud bin Talal.
The President of Saudi Aramco referred to King Salman Energy Park (SPARK), which is a giant industrial system, saying: “The development of the first phase of the project has been completed, thank God, and we have succeeded in attracting more than 60 local and international investors with investments worth more than 12 billion riyals, and a total of direct and indirect jobs exceeding 40 thousand jobs.
Several plants have already started operating, and others are on their way. Today, all of Saudi Aramco’s drilling and logistics operations for all oil and gas fields in the Kingdom are managed from SPARK.
The first and largest private dry port in the Eastern Province is also being developed with a capacity of 10 million metric tons of cargo annually when all phases are completed. God willing, the port will be operational in stages starting in the second quarter of this year.”
Regarding Saudi Aramco’s efforts to preserve the environment, Nasser said: “Saudi Aramco has a long history of protecting the environment through qualitative projects and initiatives. We are cooperating with King Faisal University to establish a center for nature-based solutions. Research projects have also been initiated to study mangrove trees in the Kingdom, as part of our efforts to combat climate change and support the Saudi Green and Middle East Green initiatives.”
In the context of enhancing the citizenship strategy, the Saudi Aramco President confirmed that the company has launched several initiatives to provide an appropriate educational environment for male and female students from various segments of society, including the project to establish the largest center for people with disabilities in the region, which is progressing and will be completed, God willing, in February 2026.
