International Maritime Industries, ARO Drilling Collaborate to Build First Offshore Drilling Rig

International Maritime Industries (IMI) announced the signing of an agreement with Saudi Aramco Rowan Offshore Drilling Company (ARO Drilling) to construct a new offshore drilling rig named “Kingdom 3.” The deal aims to boost the strategic partnership between the two companies, contribute to shaping the maritime industry’s future, and help develop the Kingdom’s maritime sector to new heights.
This rig is the first offshore drilling rig to be built in the Kingdom, marking a historic milestone for the country. It represents a significant operational step for IMI, reinforcing its goal of becoming a leading global provider of maritime services. The project also supports advancing the maritime industry sector in alignment with the Saudi Vision 2030.
Chairman of IMI Wail Al-Jaafari stressed the commencement of construction on the offshore rig “Kingdom 3,” reflecting the company’s strategic vision and commitment to developing a reliable national maritime supply chain that serves the region and the world. He added that the project highlights the support, development, and progress of the Kingdom’s maritime industries sector, which is in line with the ambitious vision to drive sector growth, support economic diversification, and contribute to the Kingdom’s long-term prosperity and global competitiveness.
Chairman of ARO Drilling Abdulhameed Al Dughaither said that the agreement between the two companies embodies their commitment to leadership and the advancement of the Kingdom’s maritime sector. He underscored that this joint project supports the empowerment of national talent and boosts the Kingdom’s maritime industries.
