Gold prices rose to a record high on Tuesday, as investors flocked to safe-haven assets after US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose 25% tariffs on steel and aluminium imports, raising fears of a trade war and worsening inflation.

Spot gold rose 0.36% to $2,917.69 an ounce, after hitting a record high of $2,942.70 earlier in the session.

US gold futures rose 0.31% to $2,943.60, according to Reuters.
