Saudi Arabia Contributes to World’s First International AI Safety Report

Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), has played a crucial role in developing the world’s first international report on artificial intelligence (AI) safety, created in collaboration with 30 countries, the United Nations, the European Union, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
Saudi Arabia contributed by providing recommendations on digital governance policies and finding a balance between innovation and responsibility in AI development. These contributions aim to ensure the report’s accuracy and relevance in addressing current and future challenges, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s commitment to promoting AI safety and governance globally.
The report assesses the risks and challenges of global AI development and aims to create regulatory policies for its safe and responsible advancement. Saudi Arabia’s involvement demonstrates its dedication to the safe and responsible growth of AI in line with Saudi Vision 2030 and highlights its efforts to collaborate with international organizations in developing digital governance and regulatory frameworks.
Furthermore, the report delves into key issues such as job displacement from automation, environmental impacts due to high-energy consumption, cybersecurity threats, potential breaches, and the spread of deepfakes impacting information and societies. It emphasizes the importance of proactive measures to tackle these issues and ensure the safe and ethical development and utilization of AI in accordance with global standards.
