Marafiq Reports Fire at Yanbu Facility, Resulting in Fatalities

The Power and Water Utility Company for Jubail and Yanbu (Marafiq) announced that a fire broke out in one of the auxiliary units of the sixth unit’s boiler within the steam turbine unit at its Yanbu Industrial City facility.

According to the company’s statement on Tadawul, the unit was already shut down for annual routine maintenance at the time of the incident. While the fire was fully contained and controlled, the company regrettably confirmed fatalities among the maintenance contractor’s workers.

Marafiq assured that consumer services remained unaffected and that it is coordinating with relevant authorities to determine the cause of the incident. The company is also conducting a comprehensive damage assessment, noting that the affected building is insured against such risks, which will be taken into account during the evaluation.
