The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) won the Logistics Hub of the Year award at the ShipTek International Conference & Awards 2025 in Dubai.
The award recognizes Mawani’s efforts during 2024 to boost commercial activity and operational efficiency through major port projects, including agreements with national and international companies to establish eight logistics zones and centers at Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, with private sector investment totaling nearly SAR2.9 billion. This contributes to over SAR10 billion in total investments for 18 logistics zones across Saudi ports.
A key achievement was the opening of Maersk’s largest global logistics investment in Jeddah Islamic Port, valued at SAR1.3 billion and covering 225,000 square meters.
Over 30 new shipping services now connect Saudi ports with eastern and western counterparts, improving the Kingdom’s maritime navigation network connectivity and supporting imports and exports.
These efforts resulted in a 14.45% increase in total cargo volume handled by Mawani-supervised ports in 2024. Exported containers rose 8.86%, and imported containers climbed 13.79%.
