The United States announced Colombia’s acceptance of flights of migrants deported from its territory, hours after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose tariffs and sanctions on Bogota for its earlier refusal to receive those flights as part of his tough campaign against migrants.
The White House said in a statement that Colombia had finally agreed to accept the deported migrants, and that the United States would not impose the sanctions it had threatened.
For his part, Colombian Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo said in a statement that his country had overcome the crisis with the US government.
