Hamilton seeks to restore Ferrari’s glory with a $100 million contract per year

There is one fact that all Formula 1 fans know: Ferrari is not just a team, but an eternal icon in the world of speed racing, where the bright red color and the sparkle that surrounds the Italian stable make it different from any other team. Ferrari is one of the most prominent teams in the history of Formula 1, since the championship began in 1950, and Ferrari has not missed a single season in 75 years, establishing itself as one of the greatest teams in the history of the sport.

But Tuesday was not an ordinary day. It was the first visit of British driver Lewis Hamilton to Maranello, northern Italy, the stronghold of the Prancing Horse, the Ferrari Formula 1 team, where the Italian team announced Hamilton’s transfer to Ferrari for the 2025 season, in one of the biggest surprises in the history of Formula 1. According to the Daily Mail, Hamilton’s salary will be around $100 million at Ferrari, including profit margins, image rights and sponsorship, making it the highest figure in the history of the championship.

Maranello, the historic stronghold of the Ferrari team in northern Italy, turned into a stage for exceptional events, as all hotels were packed to capacity, while hundreds of Tifosi fans flocked to the vicinity of the team’s factory and track, amidst an unprecedented crowd and enthusiasm.

“There are some days that you know you will remember forever, and today was my first day as a Ferrari driver,” Hamilton said of the moment. “It was one of those days, and I have been fortunate enough to achieve many things in my career that I never thought were possible, but part of me has kept the dream of racing in red alive and there is no happier moment than achieving that dream today.”

The British driver knows that Ferrari is an icon that cannot be ignored in the world of motor racing. Hamilton’s move comes after 12 years with Mercedes and six years before that with McLaren, during which he won seven world championships, equalling the German legend Michael Schumacher, who built his fame with the same Italian team. Hamilton holds the record for the most pole positions, breaking Michael Schumacher’s record of 91, and becoming the most victorious in Formula 1 history with 105 victories over 18 years.

Ambitious, stubborn and tough, he has an exceptional talent that has enabled him to enter the world of Formula 1 as the first black driver, defying all stereotypes and different views. His father, Anthony Hamilton, played a starring role behind the scenes, nurturing his talent and working three jobs to secure his son’s entry into this world. Hamilton is well aware that he is joining a team with a heavy legacy, but he is no stranger to breaking records. Will Hamilton be the knight who returns Ferrari to glory after years of absence?
