Most Japanese stocks rose at the close of trading on Tuesday, as investors awaited the central bank’s decision on interest rates at the end of the week, and assessed the prospects for global trade after Donald Trump’s inauguration as US president on Monday.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange reported that the Nikkei 225 index ended today’s session up 0.32%, or 125.48 points, to reach 39,027.98 points, while the broader Topix index closed marginally higher by 0.08%, or 2.23 points, to close at 2,713.50 points.
The US currency’s stability against its Japanese counterpart at 155.56 yen in morning trading contributed to the positive performance of the Tokyo Stock Exchange today.
