US unemployment rate falls to 4.1% in December

The US unemployment rate fell slightly in December to 4.1%, confounding expectations for a hold at 4.2%.

Nonfarm payrolls rose by 256,000 jobs during the month, up from 212,000 in November but below the Dow Jones consensus forecast of 155,000, according to a report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday.
