WEF: 170 million new jobs will be created by 2030

The World Economic Forum’s report on the future of jobs revealed that 170 million new jobs will be created, a net increase of 78 million jobs by 2030, and that the main drivers of these changes that are reshaping industries and professions around the world are technological developments, demographic changes, geo-economic tensions, and economic pressures.

The report indicated that there is an urgent need to improve skills to prepare the workforce, and for the public and private sectors, businesses, and governments to work together, invest in skills, and build an equal and resilient global workforce.

Public-facing and essential service jobs, including farm workers, vehicle drivers and construction workers, are expected to see the highest job growth in 2030, with significant increases also expected in care jobs such as nursing and teaching, as demographic changes drive growth across key sectors. Advances in artificial intelligence, robotics, energy systems, particularly renewables, and environmental engineering will drive demand for specialist professional roles in these fields.
