Total workforce in GCC countries reach 33.1 million individuals

The population of the six GCC countries reached 57.6 million in 2023, compared to 56.6 million in 2022. The percentage of males in the total population reached 62.4%, while the percentage of females reached 37.6%.

The report of the GCC Statistics Center indicated that the population density reached 23.9 people per square kilometer, as the total area of ​​the GCC countries reached 2.4 million square kilometers.

The GCC Statistics Center issued the ninth edition of the GCC Statistics Atlas for the year 2024. In his speech on the occasion of the launch of the atlas, Jassim Mohammed Al-Badawi, Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, said that statistics represent one of the most important foundations of planning and development in the path of joint Gulf cooperation.

The Atlas indicated that the total workforce in the GCC countries reached about 33.1 million individuals in 2023, compared to 30.3 million individuals in 2022. According to the Statistical Center of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, the number of people of working age (15 years and above) in the GCC countries reached 45.0 million in 2023. (According to Arabian Business). In foreign trade, the volume of GCC trade amounted to $1.482 trillion in 2023. Total goods exports amounted to $823.1 billion, with national oil exports accounting for 63.8 percent, non-oil exports 19.3 percent, and re-exports 16.9 percent. The value of goods exports between the GCC countries amounted to $131.6 billion. The nominal GDP of the GCC countries reached $2.113 trillion in 2023, with the annual growth rate decreasing by 3.5% compared to 2022. The inflation rate in the GCC recorded 2.2% in 2023.
