Russia plans to dominate global nuclear power

Russia is seeking to build more than 10 nuclear units abroad to meet the growing energy demand generated by artificial intelligence and emerging markets. It is stepping up its efforts to enhance its global influence by expanding its nuclear fleet.

Russia is seeking to build plants in countries such as Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Iran and Turkey. To strengthen its role as a major supplier of nuclear energy despite severe sanctions imposed on the oil and gas sector after the invasion of Ukraine, according to a report in the Financial Times.

Boris Titov, the Kremlin’s special representative for international cooperation in the field of sustainability, said that the country is seeking to establish itself as one of the largest builders of new nuclear power plants in the world, indicating that his country expects strong demand for nuclear energy from developing countries seeking cleaner energy sources, in addition to technology companies that use artificial intelligence in data centers.
