Trump appoints PayPal COO for AI, crypto policy

US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed former PayPal COO David Sachs as the White House’s “artificial intelligence and crypto czar.”

The tech mogul will take on a newly created role to advise the Trump administration on cryptocurrencies and artificial intelligence.

“David will guide the administration’s policy on AI and cryptocurrency, two areas critical to the future of American competitiveness,” Trump said in a social media post.

“He will protect free speech online, and keep us free from the bias and censorship of Big Tech,” he added.
