The second edition of the Greening Arabia Forum and Exhibition organized by the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) is set to commence tomorrow in Riyadh until December 13.
The event, held in conjunction with the 16th session of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP16), is the largest-ever gathering of UNCCD’s 197 Parties and the first to be held in the Middle East.
The Greening Arabia event features participation from over 120 entities spanning governmental, private, and non-profit sectors worldwide, alongside major commercial enterprises and renowned experts from both within the Kingdom and abroad. It highlights Saudi Arabia’s leading efforts to combat desertification and drought while advancing environmental protection at local and international levels. These efforts form a cornerstone of the Kingdom’s national environmental strategy and its Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.
Providing a platform for global dialogue and cooperation, the event focuses on practical and innovative solutions to achieve environmental and economic balance. Key themes include afforestation initiatives, sustainable water management, greening urban spaces, and utilizing technology and artificial intelligence for enhanced environmental management. More than 60 speakers from around the world will share their insights, discussing pioneering technologies and strategies in afforestation while emphasizing their economic, social, and environmental impact. Participants will also explore notable initiatives such as the Saudi Green Initiative and the Middle East Green Initiative.
The exhibition showcases cutting-edge technologies in afforestation and highlights notable projects and innovative initiatives to enhance vegetation cover and promote sustainability. This international gathering signifies a critical step toward fostering collaboration, tackling environmental challenges, and building a greener, more sustainable future for generations to come.
