Japan’s economy grew an annualized 0.9% in the July-September period, government data showed on Monday, as consumer spending remained robust.
The world’s third-largest economy expanded 0.2% in the fiscal second quarter, marking the second straight quarterly expansion after expanding 0.5% in the April-June period.
Domestic demand also grew at an annualized rate of 2.5%. Private consumption, which accounts for more than half of Japan’s gross domestic product, increased 3.6%, according to preliminary data from the Cabinet Office.
