Umm Al-Qura for Development and Construction, the owner, developer and operator of the Masar destination, has signed a landmark agreement with Electromin, a leading smart mobility solutions provider and a subsidiary of Petromin Corporation, to manage and operate the region’s first fully electric Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system at designated stations in Makkah. This innovative and visionary initiative is poised to set a new standard for sustainable transportation in the Middle East.
The groundbreaking partnership, formalized on the sidelines of the Cityscape Global exhibition, marks a pivotal step in building an eco-friendly and futuristic transportation system that will enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors of the Holy Capital. The strategic agreement was signed by Mr. Kalyana Sivagnanam, Group CEO of Petromin Corporation, on behalf of Electromin, in the presence of officials from both sides.
Under the agreement, Electromin will manage and operate the BRT system across two main stations and 11 stops throughout Masar destination, serving over 125 million passengers during the contract period. This innovative system will provide safe transportation that does not intersect with pedestrian pathways and cover more than 15.8 million kilometers, further enhancing the transportation experience at the destination.

These improvements will not only enhance air quality and public health but also enrich the experience of visitors and pilgrims around the world.
