EU, China agree on technical negotiations on electric car tariffs

The European Commission announced in Brussels that the European Union and China have agreed to hold further technical negotiations soon on possible alternatives to tariffs on electric cars made in China, although there are still significant gaps between the two parties.

The two sides are exploring possible minimum price commitments from Chinese producers or investments in Europe as an alternative to tariffs.

The Commission said in this regard: “The presidents agreed to hold further technical negotiations soon.”
