European Markets Open Lower on Mixed Corporate Earnings

European market indices opened lower today, ending a largely negative week for global stocks due to the third-quarter earnings season.

The Stoxx Europe 600 index of European stocks fell 0.13%, or 0.69 points, to 518 points. The German DAX index fell 0.05%, or 8 points, to 19,434 points, while the French CAC 40 index lost 0.22%, or 16 points, to 7,486 points.

The FTSE 100 index on the British Stock Exchange also fell 0.02%, or 1 point, to 8,267 points, while the IBEX 35 index on the Spanish Stock Exchange fell 0.02%, or 2 points, to 11,837 points. The FTSE MIB index of the Italian National Stock Exchange rose by 0.18%, or 62 points, to reach 34,760 points.
