Aramco, Korean firm sign MOU to cooperate in cloud computing

Saudi Aramco has signed a memorandum of understanding with Korean company Megazon Cloud to cooperate in researching and operating AI-based cloud computing.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Korea Software Industry Association said on Monday that a delegation led by the association’s chairman Jo Joon-hee, including officials from South Korean cloud computing and AI companies including Megazon Cloud, visited Saudi Aramco’s headquarters in Dhahran on October 13.

During the visit, the association and Megazon Cloud proposed the South Korean model of sovereign AI and cloud computing to Aramco officials as a means to drive economic growth and technological innovation in Saudi Arabia.

The visit came as a follow-up to a memorandum of understanding signed between the association and Aramco last May to cooperate in developing artificial intelligence and the digital economy.
