Japan’s Nikkei share average rose above the 40,000 mark on Tuesday, hitting a three-month high, as strong overnight gains on Wall Street and a weaker yen boosted sentiment.
The Nikkei reached 40,257.34, its highest since July 18, after Japanese markets reopened following a public holiday yesterday.
The benchmark index fell in the afternoon to close 0.8 percent higher at 39,910.55, securing its fourth straight session of gains.
The broader Topix index rose 0.6 percent to close at 2,723.57.
