Commercial records for AI technologies in the Kingdom grow by 49% during Q3

The Saudi Ministry of Commerce revealed that existing commercial records in artificial intelligence technologies grew by 49% by the end of the third quarter of 2024.

The business sector bulletin issued by the Ministry of Commerce indicated that the total commercial records in artificial intelligence technologies amounted to 10,183 records during the third quarter of 2024, compared to 6,832 records in the corresponding quarter of 2023.

The bulletin stated that Riyadh topped the regions with the highest number of commercial records in artificial intelligence technologies with 6,316 records, followed by Mecca with 1,988 records, then the Eastern Province with 1,054 records, and Medina with 293 records, and finally Qassim with 137 records.

It is noteworthy that the Kingdom achieved the 14th place globally and the first in the Arab world in the Global Artificial Intelligence Index approved by the United Nations, represented by the Advisory Board for Artificial Intelligence, out of 83 countries in the world, and it also topped the world in the government strategy standard for artificial intelligence according to the same index.

The Kingdom also achieved the 7th place globally in the standard for trade in artificial intelligence in this index, which confirms the Kingdom’s commitment to adopting and developing the field of artificial intelligence, investing in its technologies, and building national capabilities in this field.

This index, which was launched in 2019, is the artificial intelligence scene through seven main indicators: government strategy, operating environment, infrastructure, research, development, competencies, and trade, from which 122 standards branch out, in which 83 countries participate.

Future forecasts regarding artificial intelligence published on the SDAIA website included that the expected contribution of artificial intelligence to the global gross domestic product by 2030 will reach about 58.8 trillion riyals, and 97 million new jobs will emerge due to artificial intelligence by 2025.
