Gold prices steadied on Thursday, hovering near record highs, amid expectations of another major U.S. interest rate cut this year, although gains were limited ahead of comments from key Federal Reserve policymakers later in the day.
Spot gold rose 0.2% to $2,661.25 an ounce, while U.S. gold futures were steady at $2,684.50.
Spot silver fell to $31.85 an ounce, platinum rose 0.8% to $995.90 and palladium fell 1.2% to $1,048.75.
