Maaal informed Abdullah Al-Sawaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, that the Center for Ethics and Research on Artificial Intelligence, which was launched in Riyadh, includes all member states of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The Minister said on the sidelines of the Artificial Intelligence Conference that the center will be funded by member states of UNESCO, including the Kingdom, and it is one of five centers launched by the organization in this regard.
Among the goals of the Riyadh Center is to provide guidelines around the world in several aspects, including what is related to what is known as “artificial intelligence hallucination.” What is meant by artificial intelligence hallucination is the confident responses and answers provided by various artificial intelligence systems that have no source.
The center enjoys legal personality and financial and administrative independence to promote artificial intelligence research and ethics around the world. The center contributes to achieving the United Nations’ sustainable development goals and UNESCO’s priorities. It aims to promote AI research and ethics in line with the values and principles of the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence. The Center aims to promote AI research and ethics through international cooperation by coordinating AI research and development activities, promoting awareness of AI ethics, fostering AI skills development, and advising on AI policies.
