French inflation falls to lowest level in 3 years

France’s inflation rate fell this month to its lowest since July 2021, boosting the European Central Bank’s chances of continuing to cut interest rates, after similar slowdowns in Germany and Spain.

The French statistics office (INSEE) said consumer prices in Europe’s second-largest economy rose by 2.2% year-on-year in August, after rising by 2.7% in the previous month.
