European stocks rise on gains in media, tech sectors

European stocks rose on Thursday, supported by gains in the media services and technology sectors as markets awaited key data due later in the day.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.2%, while media services stocks rose 0.5%, supported by a 2.3% gain in Universal Music Group.

The technology sector also rose 0.3%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 index added 0.1%.

In contrast, the oil and gas sector fell 0.2%, affected by a decline of about 2% in Equinor shares.
