The Korea Exchange has halted trading in the KOSPI Composite and KOSDAQ Technology Markets.
The Korea Exchange said it halted trading in the KOSPI for 20 minutes starting at 2:14:30 p.m. today, based on the fulfillment of the trading halt conditions for the index to continue falling more than 8 percent from the previous day’s close for one minute, according to Yonhap.
The KOSPI was at 2,676.19 when the KOSPI halted trading, down 216.97 points, or 8.10 percent, from the previous trading session.
Earlier in the day, the KOSPI halted trading in the KOSDAQ Technology Market for 20 minutes starting at 1:56 p.m.
The KOSDAQ index fell 716.53 points to 716.31, down 62.81 points, or 8.06 percent, at the hour when trading was halted. This is the first time the Korea Exchange has halted stock trading in 4 years and 5 months since March 19, 2020.
