Boeing is betting on the new F-15EX aircraft, which is a modern development of the famous F-15 aircraft series. It is distinguished by its ability to carry large loads of weapons and fuel to carry out long-range missions. Its features include an advanced electronic weapons control system and high-precision sensors to detect and respond to targets. It is also distinguished by its ability to fly at high speeds, and the prices of the F-15EX plane start at 90 million dollars.

“The F-15EX is known for its payload, range and speed, but its real advantage lies beneath the surface, as its new digital system ensures Its readiness for the future and the possibility of seamlessly providing it with emerging technologies and systems. Thanks to its exceptional payload capabilities, unparalleled speed and range, this aircraft will maintain the fighter’s advantage over its opponents, enhancing its ability to survive and succeed in the mission. This fighter is designed for today’s and future battles.

Regarding the advantages that the F-15EX has compared to previous generations of the F-15, Schultz said: The F-15EX mimics the standard F-15, but it comes with extensive upgrades. It features a better processor, the most powerful radar in the world, an increased ability to carry weapons, and a flight system. New by wire (FBW) and a more advanced electronic warfare (EW) system. A fly-by-wire (FBW) system is a computer-controlled flight control system that replaces traditional mechanical controls.

He continued: This addition is of great importance because traditional mechanical and hydromechanical flight control systems rely on levers, rods, cables and pulleys, which pilots must move manually to adjust the aircraft’s control surfaces according to different aerodynamic conditions, while the FBW system works to simplify and improve this process by using Electronic interface.

Regarding the reason for Boeing’s bet on the F-15EX aircraft in light of the presence of new generations of fighter aircraft such as the F-35 and other aircraft, Kirk Schultz confirmed: Countries should consider purchasing the F-15EX aircraft for several reasons, even in light of competition from other advanced aircraft and companies. This is done through the following features:

Proven Performance: The F-15EX builds on the legacy of the F-15, a combat-proven platform with decades of operational experience.

Advanced Technologies: It features cutting-edge upgrades, including a modern fly-by-wire system, advanced electronic warfare capabilities and enhanced electronics, making it a highly efficient fighter aircraft.

Interoperability: For nations that already operate the F-15, the F-15EX provides integration with existing fleets, reducing training and logistics costs.

Payload and Range: The F-15EX can carry greater payload over longer distances, providing strategic advantages for various missions.

Rapid Deployment: Production and delivery timelines for the F-15EX are relatively short, allowing countries to quickly build up their air forces.

Regarding the cost of the F-15EX, the Senior Regional Director for International Business Development at Boeing Defense, Space and Security in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey region indicated: The price of the US Air Force’s F-15EX currently starts at about 90 million US dollars for the second set, and rises to 97 million US dollars. 1 million US dollars in the third group and then decreases to 94 million US dollars in the fourth group, and the price varies according to customer requirements, configurations, matching fuel tanks, training, additional equipment, etc.

Regarding the number of F-15EX aircraft that were sold and the countries that applied to purchase, Schultz confirmed that Boeing has completed the delivery of the first group, the second group is now in production in St. Louis, and the third and fourth groups are under contract and will be delivered up to the 56th fighter. Negotiations are now underway to obtain 24. One aircraft in the fifth group and 18 aircraft in the sixth group. The six aircraft that were reduced from Group VI in the fiscal year 2025 budget request were added to the Air National Guard’s unfunded priority list that is subject to congressional review.

He added: Boeing’s new F-15EX fighter aircraft completed its first flight in 2021, paving the way for early delivery of the first two aircraft to the US Air Force later that year. Shortly after, the advanced F-15QA Ababil of the Qatari Emiri Air Force landed in the country. The advanced F-15 fighter is also currently used by the air forces of Saudi Arabia, Japan and South Korea, with it attracting increasing interest from the air forces of other countries including Indonesia and Poland.
