US stocks on Wall Street did not witness much change on Thursday, as they temporarily calmed down a day after the S&P 500 index recorded a new record closing level, while traders awaited a major economic report related to jobs.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index ended the trading day, Thursday, slightly lower, retreating from a record high.
The broad market index, the S&P 500, fell 0.02% after hitting an all-time high during the day. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 78.84 points, while the Nasdaq Composite Index fell 0.09%.
Stocks came out of a winning session yesterday, as the S&P 500 jumped 1.18% to close at 5,354.03 points. The index also touched a new all-time high during the day at 5,354.16. The Nasdaq Composite Index jumped 1.96% to 17,187.90, recording a new record high, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 0.25% to close at 38,807.33 points.
