Flyadeal considers purchasing between 10 and 20 wide-body aircraft

Saudi Arabia’s low-cost travel company Flyadeal intends to place a potential order for between 10 and 20 wide-body aircraft to increase its capacity to transport larger numbers of passengers.

The value of such a deal could reach about $5 billion at announced prices, but airlines are usually able to obtain significant discounts.

Flyadeal CEO Stephen Greenway said that the company is currently in the early stage of making comparisons between the Boeing 787 and the Airbus A330neo, and that it has not yet begun requesting any offers from the two competing aircraft manufacturers, according to Reuters.

Regarding studying the request to purchase wide-body aircraft, Greenway said on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in Dubai, “We have developed a long-term plan (through which we can) have a fleet of 10, 15 or 20 aircraft, I would say. At least 10 over the next three, four or five years.”
