Novak: Russia does not need to lower fuel quality standards

Acting Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on Monday that his country does not need to reduce fuel quality requirements because the situation in the local market remains stable.

Sources in the oil sector told Reuters that the Russian government is examining the possibility of relaxing some of the strict environmental standards related to fuel to allow the use of low-quality gasoline to confront any potential fuel shortage.

The basic oil refining production capacity in Russia was damaged due to several factors, including maintenance work, technical malfunctions, and Ukrainian drone attacks.
