Saudi Minister of Energy announces a significant increase in proven reserves of gas and condensates in Jafoura field

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, confirmed that the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) has been able to add large quantities to the proven reserves of gas and condensates in the unconventional Jafoura field.

The additional confirmed quantities amounted to (15) trillion standard cubic feet of gas and (two billion) barrels of condensate. This achievement was achieved as a result of applying the highest international standards in estimating and developing hydrocarbon resources in a way that ensures their proper exploitation.

It should be noted that the quantities of resources in the Al-Jafoura field are now estimated at approximately 229 trillion standard cubic feet of gas and 75 billion barrels of condensate. The estimates of proven resources and reserves for the Al-Jafoura field were approved by a major independent consulting company specialized in the field of certifying proven resources and reserves.

The Minister of Energy concluded his statement by saying, “With praise and thanks to God for the abundant goodness He has bestowed upon this noble country, we ask God Almighty to protect the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his trustworthy Crown Prince, and to perpetuate security, safety, stability and prosperity in our homeland.”
