The main indices on Wall Street opened higher on Wednesday after declining in the previous session in the wake of a worrying report on the inflation rate that raised questions about when the Federal Reserve (the US central bank) will reduce interest rates for the first time this year.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 99.92 points, or 0.26%, to 38,372.67 points.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index opened up 23.27 points, or 0.47%, to 4,976.44 points, while the Nasdaq Composite index fell 126.11 points, or 0.81%, to 15,781.71 points.
