Zoom plans to reduce 2% of its workforce

The technology company “Zoom” intends to cut about 150 jobs, or 2% of its workforce, thus becoming the latest to join the technology sector companies in the level of job cuts.

According to CNBC, a company spokesperson said: We evaluate our teams on a regular basis to ensure consistency with our strategy. As part of this effort, we are redefining the scope of roles in order to increase capabilities and continue hiring in vital areas for the future.

The company confirmed that it will continue hiring for artificial intelligence, sales and product positions in 2024.

As of yesterday, Thursday, more than 100 technology companies had laid off about 30,000 employees in the sector this year, according to layoffs.fyi data.

The company “Zoom” achieved wild popularity during the Corona period and the accompanying long periods of working from home, but when the pandemic subsided, many employees returned to working from the office, which was reflected in the stock’s performance.

Since the beginning of 2024, the company’s stock has declined by about 10%, and by 90% from its all-time high in October 2020.
