Saudi Ceramic Company announced an update on the status of its upcoming porcelain tile production plant, assuring stakeholders that it is dedicated to expediting the project’s completion. The company anticipates the commencement of trial and commercial production by the end of the second quarter of the current year, 2024.
Various factors have contributed to the delay in project completion, as outlined by the company:
1. Delayed Arrival of Machinery and Equipment: Some contracted machines and equipment faced delays in manufacturing and delivery.
2. Incomplete Civil Construction Works: Certain civil construction works remain unfinished due to delays by specific contractors.
3. Regulatory Procedure Delays: Some regulatory procedures experienced delays from competent authorities.
Despite these challenges, the company highlights progress made:
The Ministry of Energy has approved the allocation of natural gas, as indicated in their letter dated January 15, 2024;
The company is in the process of completing remaining regulatory procedures, including approvals from the Natural Gas Distribution Company. Once finalised, the company plans to sign a gas supply contract and extend the gas infrastructure to the designated area in the industrial city; and
Approximately 85% of the project has been completed.
