The Makkah Halal Forum started Tuesday at the Makkah Chamber of Commerce Events and Exhibition Center, bringing together leading figures from government and commercial sectors from around the world.
Held under the patronage of Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, and having as theme “Innovation in halal industry”, the three-day event is organized by several Manafea Agreement partners (the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA), Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, and Taif Chambers of Commerce), as well as the Islamic Chamber for Halal Services (ICHS).
Strategic partners of the event are the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA).
The forum consists of nine discussion sessions and various other meetings that will address issues like halal certification and standards, regulatory frameworks to ensure the safety and authenticity of halal products and services, the halal food industry trends, innovations and best practices, management of supply chains, quality control, food safety, and ways of meeting different consumer preferences.
ICCIA Secretary General Yousef Khalawi said that this global event gathers numerous influencers in the halal industry.
The forum will be held annually under the general title “Where Leaders Create the Halal Future”, with a different theme chosen every year.
