These are Bill Gates’ predictions about AI, energy and climate‎

US billionaire Bill Gates, CEO of the giant Microsoft Corporation, highlighted a number of prominent issues that are preoccupying the world, including the issue of climate change, artificial intelligence, energy, and conflicts around the world, and revealed his expectations regarding many developments during the new year. He made time to talk about climate change, noting that he is “optimistic” about progress, despite his awareness of the threat.

Technology boom: Gates expected that the world would witness a “technology boom” in the next decade, and he said: “If I had to reveal my expectations, in high-income countries like the United States, I would think that we are 18 to 24 months away from reaching… “Significant levels of use of artificial intelligence by the general population.” As for “In African countries, I expect to see a similar level of use within three years or so.” This is still a gap, but it is much shorter than the lags we have seen with other innovations. He also pointed to the use of artificial intelligence as an advisor in medical situations, giving an example of a South African chatbot under development as “an unbiased, non-judgmental advisor who can provide advice around the clock.”

He also mentioned the “ArmMan” system, which “will one day serve as an assistant for health workers who treat high-risk pregnancies.” While Gates says we may not see these technologies around the world in 2024 or even 2025, he hints that “the work that will be done during the new year paves the way for a massive technological boom later this decade.” Speaking about climate change, he said that he feels optimistic about the progress achieved in general, but the next five years remain critical.

Gates also spoke extensively about energy innovations as “more people are forced to endure hardship as a result of recurring extreme weather events resulting from climate change.”

He pointed out, “In 2024 and beyond, I expect that we will see a lot of new innovations entering the market – even in very complex fields such as nuclear energy.” He went on to say, “The climate crisis can seem stressful, but I find it easier to remain optimistic when you focus on all the progress we are making.”

“If the world continues to prioritize financing innovation, I hope we can achieve this.” “Good progress in achieving our climate goals.” Regarding nuclear energy, Gates expects that “we will see a lot of new innovations entering the market.”

Regarding the political aspect, Gates says: “If I could make one wish to all the people who will go to the polls next year – regardless of where they live – they should consider electing leaders who understand the importance of investing in human development in the whole world”. And highlighting “the way governments deal with people outside their borders and help them, so that the entire world benefits.” He stressed that he “believes that the 2024 elections will be a turning point for both health and climate.”
